There seems to be some positive news on the horizon even though Boston Celtics forward Kristaps Porzingis was still out due to a calf injury during the team’s 124-97 victory over the Chicago Bulls on Tuesday night.
Speaking with Chris Forsberg of NBC Sports Boston, Porzingis discussed the status of his injury and when he expects to return.
“The calf is content right now. Very soon, I believe. very quickly. Not sure if it will be the following game, but hopefully it will be soon after,” Porzingis informed Forsberg.
On November 24, Porzingis was not in the team’s lineup for their game against the Orlando Magic. Despite his absence from two games, the Celtics have triumphed over the Atlanta Hawks 113-103 and the Bulls by 27 points without their gifted forward.
Porzingis sounds upbeat, even if there’s no assurance he’ll return in time for the next game against the Philadelphia 76ers or on December 4 against the Indiana Pacers.
He’s been a valuable addition to the Celtics squad, averaging 18.9 points on 54.7 percent shooting, which is a career-best percentage.
This season, Porzingis has averaging 30.3 minutes per game in addition to 6.7 rebounds, 1.9 assists, and 1.7 blocks.
