After an ironic comment criticizing the team, Darvin Ham, Lakers fans have taken to vehemently attacking him.

On Wednesday night, the Los Angeles Lakers traveled to San Antonio to play Victor Wembanyama in a game for the first time. It appeared as though the Lakers would easily defeat one of the poorest teams in the NBA, even in LeBron James’ absence.

But the team’s 18-point advantage over the Spurs began to evaporate once the fourth quarter got underway. San Antonio narrowed the advantage to just one, and it appeared as though the Lakers would lose for the second straight game.

But late in the game, Anthony Davis was able to make both of his critical free throws, which was sufficient to give the Lakers an early lead. However, Darvin Ham remarked after the game that the team still gave the supporters a heart attack. For Ham, the fourth quarter was about one thing and one thing only: common sense.

Given that the head coach is quoting himself, this comment sounds a little ironic, especially given how far Lakers fans have taken it. Although Ham wasn’t speaking about himself, supporters believe that when the head coach in his second year does something like this, he should take a hard look in the mirror.

‘Common sense’ comment prompts Lakers supporters to criticize Darvin Ham.
Take a look at the responses to Buha’s post. The majority of the most popular ones discuss how it begins with the coaching staff, specifically with Ham. Heck, after seeing Ham mention this following the game, some on the Lakers forum are criticizing him and his usage of rotations.

Despite the Lakers having an excellent start to the season, which includes winning the NBA Cup, Ham has become increasingly unpopular with the fan base. Ham’s coaching style has been far from ideal, and a lot of supporters disagree with his laissez-faire approach.

To be fair to Ham, he is likely getting more flak than he deserves, but that will always be the case with any coach of the Lakers. LeBron James’s on-court coaching and the team’s talent are the main reasons the Lakers are succeeding. The head coach is not a good match and is incapable of figuring out rotations, which is why the Lakers are losing.

Given that Ham has occasionally lacked coaching common sense, was his comment a little ironic? Indeed. But after making a remark like this, he doesn’t deserve all of the criticism he is getting. I mean, he has a point. In the fourth quarter, the Lakers did not play with common sense.
