As the season progresses, the Kansas City Chiefs sustain a fatal injury….
The season-long rivalry between the Cincinnati Bengals and Kansas City Chiefs came to an end. Without Joe Burrow, Patrick Mahomes capitalized on a club that appeared to be lacking offensively. Their secondary and defensive line, led by Chris Jones, moved quickly to cover every target that Jake Browning had available. According to Jay Morrison of the Pro Football Network, one receiver, Ja’Marr Chase, was forced to speak out when the team’s chances of making the playoffs were dashed by their Super Bowl-winning opponents.
The Bengals receiver’s claim might have some merit. Although Jake Browning was having trouble in the pocket, things were different when he sent the ball to his receivers. Chase received three receptions with an average gain of 13.7. Another explanation for his audacious declaration would be the fact that no cornerback was able to force an interception out of the Bengals’ air attempts.
Still, their attack was sucked alive by the Chiefs line. The most well-known defender in Browning’s takedown party was Justin Reid. After he was credited with two sacks, George Karlaftis fired back, recording 1.5 sacks on the Bengals quarterback. Charles Omenihu, Tershawn Wharton, and Chris Jones also participated. All of them severely damaged Zac Taylor’s offensive engine, resulting in ill-advised throws and 14 missed field goals out of 33 tries.
