Terrible news Henderson and Judkins’ Ohio State backfield would rank among the best in the whole country.
I am aware that the Ohio State football team has been the subject of much worry over the last two weeks. At the Cotton Bowl, the team and coaches, in particular, appeared to be performing in a way that was embarrassing, and things appeared to be close to reaching a breaking point. Rumors circulated about wasted practices and a coaching staff that appeared to be asleep at the wheel, but fellow Buckeye supporters, to paraphrase Dr. Victor Frankenstein,.
Things seem to be getting better, as evidenced by the acquisition of Kansas State’s Will Howard, an All-Big 12 second-team quarterback, Alabama’s Seth McLaughlin, a center, and Ohio’s Will Kacmarek, a tight end. Devin Sanchez, the nation’s top cornerback and fourth-ranked player, committed to the Buckeyes as well. Furthermore, it appears that head coach Ryan Day is approaching this month as one that could make or break his tenure at Ohio State, with rumors circulating about a slight staff overhaul.
At the very least, it appears that the Buckeyes made progress toward reestablishing their offense as a multifaceted assault with elite depth at every skill position over the weekend. Quinshon Judkins, a former Ole Miss Rebel and two-time first-team All-SEC running back, looks to be planning to transfer to Ohio State; an announcement regarding his transfer could happen at any time. However, nothing has been confirmed as of this writing.
Naturally, that begs the question of TreVeyon Henderson, the starting back for the Buckeyes, who has not yet announced if he will play a fourth season in Columbus or if he will instead choose to enter the NFL Draft.
However, Henderson had long been believed to be one of the Buckeyes planning to run it back; so, does Judkins’ impending commitment mean that Henderson is on his way to the pros? Or is there a chance that Ohio State could be on the verge of securing the best backfield in the country as they head into the first season of the expanded College Football Playoff?
