Three key players for the Indianapolis Colts are dealing with grave injuries.
Ahead of their matchup with the Houston Texans on Saturday, the Indianapolis Colts announced their Week 18 injury report today.
The practice report, however, only provides an estimate of a player’s participation in the event that there was a practice because Tuesday’s session was a walk-through.
Center Ryan Kelly’s ankle injury prevented him from practicing today. Today, Kelly was spotted by reporters in the locker room wearing a protective boot. Kelly, who has been playing incredibly well all year, will be necessary both this week and throughout the playoffs. This practice week, he’ll be someone to watch.
Due to an ankle injury, Quenton Nelson, a left guard, was unable to practice today. This year, Nelson has been a consistent practice participant and has been in good health, so missing practice time has been unusual. Nelson did, however, have to leave the Colts’ game against the Raiders briefly due to an ankle injury, but he was able to return after receiving medical attention. Nelson will be someone to watch this week because, like Kelly, he has been playing lights out this year and will be needed for a possible play-off push.
Chris Lammons, a cornerback, was sidelined today due to an ankle injury. Last week, Lammons replaced Kenny Moore at nickel corner after the latter was ruled out due to a back injury. As Moore’s replacement, Lammons performed admirably and seems to be the starting nickel backup right now.
Cornerback Due to a back ailment, Kenny Moore was limited during practice today. Moore’s back injury kept him out of last week’s game against the Raiders after he missed practice on Friday. Moore has made progress in his ability to practice, and hopefully he will be able to do so even more this week.
Reversing course Zack Moss’ forearm injury kept him from participating fully in practice today. Moss has missed the last two games due to a forearm injury that has been bothering him for a few weeks. Moss has only been practicing sparingly for the previous two weeks, so it doesn’t appear like much progress has been made thus far. This week, he will be someone to watch.
Correct tackle Due to a knee injury, Braden Smity was limited in today’s practice. Smith returned to the field last week after missing several weeks due to a knee injury. It appears that Smith may have made his knee injury worse, as he was limited in practice today. Smith was greatly missed at right tackle when he was out, so hopefully any resentment won’t be too harmful.
