Another important player for the Warriors has announced his retirement due to this heartbreaking…
Andre Iguodala has officially announced his retirement from the NBA after 19 seasons. He started his career as a scoring wing in Philadelphia and finished as the defensive stopper and seasoned leader of the Golden State Warriors.
Iguodala, a four-time NBA champion, declared his retirement on Friday following 19 seasons with four different teams. Iguodala, 39, was named the 2015 NBA Finals Most Valuable Player and has won all of his titles with the Golden State Warriors.
Before opting to step aside to spend more time with his family, the 2011–12 All-Star and 2012 Olympic gold medalist stated he turned down interest from the Warriors and other organizations. The Warriors were prepared to bring Iguodala back if he had wanted to play on, which was not surprising.
In 1,231 games (784 starts), with the Philadelphia 76ers (2004–12), Denver Nuggets (2012–13), Warriors (2013–19, 2021-23), and Miami Heat (2019–21), he averaged 11.3 points, 4.9 rebounds, 4.2 assists, and 1.4 steals.
Iguodala was selected to the first team of the 2004–05 All-Rookie team and the second team of the 2010–11 and 2013–14 All-Defensive teams. With Golden State, he won championships in 2015, 2017, 2018, and 2022.
His teams advanced to the playoffs fifteen times, and he averaged 9.4 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 3.5 assists in 177 postseason games (107 starts).
He was named MVP of the 2015 Finals against the Cleveland Cavaliers after averaging 16.3 points, 5.8 rebounds, 4.0 assists, and 1.3 steals while playing excellent defense against LeBron James of the Cavaliers throughout the course of the six-game series.
In 2004, the Sixers selected Arizona’s Iguodala with the ninth overall pick.
He won a gold medal in the 2012 Summer Olympics in London with the US team. In 2010, Iguodala triumphed in a FIBA world championship held in Turkey.
