The top player for the Green Bay Packers is suspended due to the following:.

Jaire Alexander, a cornerback for the Green Bay Packers, was suspended for one game on Wednesday due to behavior that was harmful to the team after he made a coin toss error last week that almost cost the team a possession.
Alexander won’t be there when Green Bay plays the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday.
“We never make this choice lightly, and suspending a player is never an easy one. Regretfully, we had to take this action because of Jaire’s actions before the game in Carolina,” Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst stated in a statement on Wednesday. “Everyone in our organization is expected to prioritize the team. Despite our disappointment, Jaire and I had a productive chat this morning, and we anticipate that he will use this as a lesson as we go forward together. He is a valued component of this team and always will be, so we are excited to have him return next week.”

The incident happened at the beginning of last Sunday’s close 33-30 victory over the Carolina Panthers by the Packers. Even though he wasn’t the official game captain, Alexander participated in the coin toss at midfield, called tails correctly, but declined to say “defer” when asked by referee Alex Kemp.
Alexander later recalled, “I told them, ‘I want our defense to be out there,’ and they all looked at me like I was crazy.” “I mean, what I stated is really basic, and I want the defense to be made public. “You mean defer?” they ask, and I reply, “Yeah, I guess.”

The Panthers would have received the kickoffs in the first and second halves if Kemp had not verified Alexander’s intentions.
Regarding Alexander’s call, Packers coach Matt LaFleur stated, “That was a big mistake.” That’s something you go over with the boys each time they head out there: ‘Hey, we win the toss; let’s defer.’ Before the game, I went to the officials and made sure they understood our plan. We’re constantly attempting to be proactive in that regard because we had a similar experience earlier this year.”
