The head coach of the Flyers announced a significant player retirement due to his spouse.

The Flyers’ first season under John Tortorella went about as planned, with a young and inexperienced roster that saw many highs and lows but was never a genuine contender for the playoffs.

The Flyers won six more games, picked up an additional 14 points, and moved up one spot to escape the Metropolitan Division basement, which was a slight but welcome improvement over the 2021–22 campaign.

Tortorella started to establish the foundation and character for the upcoming Flyers hockey era in what he has called a “process.” As he stated repeatedly during the season, this would always entail figuring out who should and shouldn’t be a part of the long-term solution.

Tortorella frequently publicly challenged the majority of his players who faced hardship in order to gauge how they would handle it and assist him in his assessment procedure.

There may be a few changes in store for the team following a season that saw chairman Dave Scott retire, general manager Chuck Fletcher fired, and a new coach installed. In that spirit, which Flyers would you bring back for the upcoming season if you were Danny Brere, the acting general manager? You get to decide who should stay and who should go as the Flyers begin their rebuilding process.
