Following Draymond Green’s ejection, Steve Kerr broke down in tears as his elite player vehemently declared his abrupt retirement.
Less than four minutes into the Warriors’ victory over the Magic on Wednesday, Draymond Green was sent out, and Steph Curry appeared to be defeated.
Curry looked upset and covered his face with his jersey, and Green was given two technical fouls for screaming at referee Ray Acosta. The veteran big man was automatically ejected.
Acosta’s foul call on Warriors swingman Andrew Wiggins caused Green to lose his composure. Paolo Banchero of the Magic then scored a and-1 to knot the game at six points.
Green was yelling at the referee while Curry was standing next to him, and Curry appeared unhappy when Green was thrown off the field.
There was a moment when some fans thought Curry had wiped tears from his eyes.
Golden State defeated the Heat 113-92 on the road on Tuesday, forcing the 36-year-old future Hall of Famer to forfeit his four-time champion center. The Warriors are vying for a position in the play-in round.
Forward Jonathan Kuminga was also out for the Warriors because of left knee discomfort.
The Athletic claims that in the pool report, crew chief Mitchell Ervin described it as a “prolonged diatribe” containing “egregious profane language.”
Green did not talk to reporters following the game, so it’s unclear exactly what was said.
If Curry was frustrated by the Warriors’ precarious situation, it would make sense.
Following his extended NBA suspension for striking Phoenix center Jusuf Nurkic in the face on December 12, Green was ejected for the second time this season.
According to the league, Green’s “repeated history of unsportsmanlike acts” was taken into account while deciding how long to suspend him.
In addition, Green received a suspension for stepping on Domantas Sabonis’s chest in Sacramento during the 2023 playoffs.
The Warriors coach, Steve Kerr, stated that they cannot depend on Curry to play a lot of minutes, which coincided with Green’s most recent ejection.
Kerr remarked of the event, “He deserved it.”
Following the game, Green shared about the Warriors’ victory on social media and was spotted giving Curry a hug in the locker room.
Following the game, Curry remarked, “We don’t want to injure ourselves.” “Whatever it takes to keep him available and on the floor, we need him.”
Green posted on Thursday to his X account, saying, “Excellent DUB!! Thank you for keeping it down, my dawgs! Let’s move on to the following one! IMPOSE AGAIN!
