After a severe health admission, 79-year-old Rod Stewart postpones more tour dates.
Sir Rod Stewart canceled his landmark 200th Las Vegas residency event last week, forcing him to postpone his remaining tour dates.
Just a few hours before he was scheduled to perform live for the second time this week, the 79-year-old singer abruptly left a Friday night performance. His organization stated he would not be attending a third performance on Saturday night due to illness, which prevented him from performing, in a statement that also conveyed the heartbreaking news to his supporters.
Rod’s crew apologized for the last-minute disappointment and stated that the singer was “recovering from a summer strain of Covid-19” in addition to “regretting to announce” the cancelled gigs.
“We regret to announce that tonight’s Rod Stewart concert in Stateline, NV and his August 10 show in Lincoln, CA have been postponed, as the singer recovers from a summer strain of Covid-19,” the Instagram post reads, just before Rod was scheduled to perform in Nevada last night. August 18 is now the date of Lincoln XA’s performance at Thunder Valley Casino, and August 20 is now the date of his performance at Lake Tahoe Outdoor Arena at Harveys in Stateline, Nevada. Keep in mind that tickets will be honored for the rescheduled shows, so hold onto them.”
The singer was scheduled to conclude his The Hits performance at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace earlier this week following a performance for the previous 13 years at the location. But hours before what was scheduled to be his final performance at the location, Sir Rod announced his withdrawal, apologizing profusely.
He went on, “It’s evident that I can’t work with strep throat, but most people can. I’m utterly devastated. I’ve been anticipating this concert for a very long time. I sincerely apologize for any trouble this may have caused. Thank goodness, we’ll be going back in 2025, and I hope to see you all then,” he promised.
As to the NHS, symptoms of a strep infection may include sore throat, rash, nausea, vomiting, and muscle aches. Antibiotics can be used to treat it, and it is frequently not a serious illness.
He declared hours before to his performance that he would be making a springtime return to Sin City for a run of encore performances. “Vegas, I’m having too much fun for this to end so we are coming back for an encore!” the seasoned rock artist tweeted alongside an Instagram video of him performing at the venue.
