Charlotte, NC – April 29, 2025 – The Carolina Panthers have officially unveiled an ambitious $655.6 million renovation plan for Bank of America Stadium, promising to redefine the NFL stadium experience for fans, players, and the broader Charlotte community. The extensive project, a collaborative effort between the team’s ownership, Tepper Sports & Entertainment (TSE), and the City of Charlotte, aims to modernize the nearly three-decade-old venue into a state-of-the-art facility boasting cutting-edge technology, luxurious amenities, and a renewed focus on fan engagement.
The renovation, which has been in the planning stages for over a year and recently cleared a crucial rezoning hurdle with unanimous City Council approval, underscores the commitment of the Carolina Panthers to remain in Charlotte for the long term.
As part of the agreement that secures the team’s presence in the Queen City through at least 2045, the City of Charlotte has committed $650 million in hospitality and tourism tax funds towards the project. TSE will contribute over $688 million, which includes $117 million already invested in stadium upgrades and an estimated $571 million earmarked for the core renovation and potential overages.
The comprehensive overhaul targets nearly every aspect of the fan experience. Spectators can anticipate brand-new seating throughout the stadium bowl, ensuring greater comfort and improved sightlines.
A significant investment in technology will introduce new, state-of-the-art video boards, including exterior displays for watch parties and community events, a high-definition scoreboard, and an advanced sound system designed to immerse fans in the game-day atmosphere.
Beyond the on-field action, the renovation prioritizes the creation of dynamic social spaces. Redesigned concourses will offer a more fluid and engaging environment, while the addition of unique social areas, including a 500-level patio with stunning skyline views, will provide fans with new ways to connect and enjoy the game. Concession areas will be significantly upgraded, promising a more diverse selection of food and beverage options, with a focus on highlighting local Carolinas vendors.
An expanded team store will offer a wider array of merchandise for Panthers and Charlotte FC supporters.
Accessibility is a key focus of the renovation, with plans to enhance the stadium to ensure individuals with a range of disabilities can navigate the facility with ease. Safety and security enhancements, including improved lighting and wayfinding, are also integral to the project.
The exterior of Bank of America Stadium will also receive a significant facelift. The surrounding landscape will be transformed into a more inviting park-like setting with improved pedestrian pathways. The stadium’s façade will be enhanced to maintain its iconic status within the Charlotte skyline, with the integration of arts and cultural elements to reflect the region’s vibrant identity.
A reimagined South Lawn Pavilion area is envisioned as a versatile community gathering space, serving as an outdoor classroom on non-game days.
The environmental impact of the stadium is also being addressed through the modernization of building systems, including mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems, with a focus on energy efficiency and sustainability.
While the extensive renovations are underway, the Carolina Panthers and Charlotte FC aim to maintain operations, with work expected to be completed in phases over the next five to six years, targeting a full completion by 2029.
Team representatives have assured fans that they will be kept informed of any potential disruptions to game-day activities as the project progresses.
The significant investment in Bank of America Stadium is projected to have a substantial economic impact on the Charlotte region, building upon the $1.1 billion generated by stadium events in 2023. Moreover, TSE has emphasized its commitment to engaging and supporting minority-owned and small businesses in the region throughout the renovation process.
The unveiling of this ambitious renovation plan signals a new era for the Carolina Panthers and Bank of America Stadium, promising an elevated and innovative experience for all who visit while solidifying the stadium’s role as a vital community asset for decades to come.
