Another repulsive injury sustained by the Philadelphia Eagles…

Since rupturing his pec in Week 2, Maddox, 27, has not participated in any sports. He was given permission to practice last week by the Eagles, but they decided not to use him for the Giants game. This week, Maddox participated fully in practice once more.

The return of Maddox should be a major advantage for the secondary, which has rotated guys at nickel cornerback ever since the injury. This season, the Eagles have utilized Sydney Brown, James Bradberry, Eli Ricks, Mario Goodrich, and Bradley Roby at the position.

Maddox will require a roster slot from the Eagles. Maybe the Okwuegbunam injury is a sign of what will happen when they make one.

Dickerson, 25, had thumb surgery last week, which kept him out of the game. Sua Opeta, a seasoned player, covered at left guard. Despite having a wrap on his left thumb, Dickerson participated fully in practice for the whole week. On Sunday afternoon, we will have to see how much of an impact that has on him.

Dickerson has missed just one game in the previous two seasons, and that was last week. After leaving Alabama with serious injury concerns, Dickerson has had a fairly durable three-year NFL career.

The Eagles were forced to start Shaq Leonard and Ben VanSumeren at linebacker against the Giants, while Nolan Smith also received his first action at off-ball linebacker. It was VanSumeren’s first defensive play in the NFL and Leonard’s first start with the Eagles.

Prior to the Giants game last week, Morrow was dubious. During the warm-ups before the game, he tried the injury, but he ended up wincing and not playing.

Not surprisingly, Slay is out. The veteran will miss his third straight game as he continues to recover from arthroscopic knee surgery. The Eagles expect Slay back for the playoffs and did not place him on injured reserve. Rookies Eli Ricks and Kelee Ringo have performed admirably in his place.
