After a shocking injury statement that revealed the super star had a shattered spine, the Chiefs lost a vital player for the Super Bowl.

Kansas City Chiefs Head Coach After the Atlanta Falcons defeated the Cincinnati Bengals in the AFC Championship Game, Andy Reid gave his customary postgame injury update.

Throughout the team’s game versus the Bengals, multiple injuries occurred. WR Kadarius Toney departed the game with an ankle injury in the first half, and CB L’Jarius Sneed was declared out due to a concussion. LB Willie Gay Jr. sustained a shoulder injury in the second half of the game, WR JuJu Smith-Schuster sustained a knee injury, and WR Mecole Hardman’s pelvic condition worsened.

Reid commented on two more players who were persevering through injuries and confirmed four of those injuries.

“L’Jarius Sneed had a concussion as far as injuries go,” Reid stated. “Kadarius Toney made a tweak to his ankle. JuJu Smith-Schuster’s knee started acting up last week. All these guys gave it their all, even Mecole Hardman. It’s an homage to Travis Kelce and Pat Mahomes’ hard ethic…

It felt like the Chiefs had as many injuries in a week as they would have in a season, according to Clark Hunt’s statement in his postgame interview, and he could be right. Patrick Mahomes labored through an ankle issue before the game. With a back ailment, Travis Kelce was added to the injury report after the fact.

Reid had one explanation for his wounded stars’ performance.

Reid described it as “pure grit.” “Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes.” I can’t express how grateful I am that Pat did what he did and had that run at the finish. He is, in my opinion, the MVP.

Reid, Mahomes, and Kelce all had nothing but high respect for the training team.

Reid remarked of Mahomes, “Yeah, well, I mean he went out and practiced.” He completed all the tasks and ignored the issue. The training room was his home. I am referring to the work that Rick Burkholder and Julie (Frymyer) did in preparing him and keeping him occupied all the time. He got home, and his wife was undoubtedly working on him too, I’m sure. Everyone was worried about him.The Kansas City Chiefs defeated the Baltimore Ravens 17-10 to advance to Super Bowl 58. However, pass rusher Charles Omenihu’s ACL tear in the AFC Championship Game dealt a setback to the defense heading into their Super Bowl battle against the San Francisco 49ers on Monday.

Following the announcement on Monday, Omenihu posted the following on social media:

Omenihu made a crucial play early in the game by navigating to quarterback Lamar Jackson for this strip-sack before getting hurt:

include the postseason. This season, Omenihu has tallied ten sacks for the Chiefs; nine of those came during the regular season, and this one against Jackson is his only postseason sack.

After playing the most of the previous two seasons in the NFC, Omenihu inked a free agent contract with the Chiefs this past summer.

with the 49ers of San Francisco.

It seems that Omenihu will now be observing from the sidelines in Super Bowl 58 rather than suiting up to play against his former squad.
