Boston Celtics fans suffered a horrible death in 2024, and I’m shocked about it.

At the age of 42, Brandon Hunter, a player for the Boston Celtics and Orlando Magic, passed away.

Jeff Boals, the head basketball coach at Ohio University, announced Hunter’s passing on social media on Tuesday night, calling it a “Sad day for Bobcat Nation” on X, a platform that was formerly known as Twitter.

“Hunter Brandon, Too soon, gone,” he continued. “Among the greatest to wear green and white in history. #RIP.

Boals withheld details regarding the possible cause of death for the former NBA player.

According to The Cincinnati Enquirer, Hunter excelled as a basketball player at Withrow University High School before going on to play as a Bobcat for Ohio University’s men’s basketball team from 1999 to 2003.

According to The Cincinnati Enquirer, he played the sport there and was recognized for it multiple times. In 2000, he was named to the All-Mid-American Conference Freshman Team. He was also named to the All-MAC First Team three times. According to Fox News, Hunter led the NCAA in rebounds during his final year at the university.

Hunter was selected by the Boston Celtics with the 56th overall pick in the second round of the 2003 NBA draft as a result of his outstanding play with the Bobcats. According to Fox News, he spent one season playing 36 games and averaging 3.5 points and 3.3 rebounds with the Celtics.

After that, he was traded to the Orlando Magic, where in 31 games during the 2004–05 season, he averaged 3.1 points and 2.2 rebounds.
