Heartbreak, The head coach of Ajax Amsterdam sheld tears due to coming of Another coach.

AMSTERDAM (AP) — After just six months at the Dutch superpower Ajax, coach Alfred Schreuder was let go after the team went seven games without winning. Ajax is the four-time European winners.

After his team’s 1-1 tie with Volendam on Thursday night, Schreuder—who took over for Erik ten Hag when he left for Manchester United—was fired by Ajax, who cited “disappointing results and lack of development within the team.”

Club director Edwin van der Sar described the choice as both difficult and essential. “We believed Alfred could make a difference. We realized he was powerless to change the course of events.

Seven points behind league leader Feyenoord in the top tier Eredivisie is the reigning champion Ajax.

Schreuder’s replacement was not named right away.

AMSTERDAM: On Thursday, Ajax Amsterdam announced the appointment of Alfred Schreuder as their new coach. Erik ten Hag will be joining Manchester United.

With Ajax, Schreuder, 49, has inked a two-year contract. Schreuder is poised to lead Club Brugge to the Belgian championship.
Schreuder worked as Ten Hag’s assistant for eighteen months at Ajax and with Ronald Koeman at Barcelona the previous year.
Since January, he has served as head coach of Brugge, Twente, and Hoffenheim, all Bundesliga teams.

They have overcame early losses to take the lead in the Belgian league as the season draws to a close, and a victory on Sunday would guarantee them the championship.
“I seize the honor and wonderful opportunity to take on the role of head coach at Ajax. I want to win championships in Amsterdam with a football squad that plays visually appealing games. In a statement posted on the Ajax website, he added, “With a good balance between many great talents and experienced top players.”
“First, though, I want to help Club Brugge win the season. I’ll use every effort to see that through.”
