In the NBA In-Season Tournament on Tuesday night, the Boston Celtics easily defeated the Chicago Bulls, 124-97.

Joe Mazzulla became the first NBA head coach with the greatest winning percentage (.710) after that victory.

He has eclipsed a number of well-known players, including Phil Jackson (.704), Billy Cunningham (.698), Larry Bird (.687), David Blatt (.675), and K.C. Jones (.674).

The former Mountaineer finished 57-25 in his first season as the head coach of the Celtics last season, which is the second-most wins by a rookie in team history.

The record is held by Bill Russell, who won 60 games in the 1966–67 campaign.

The Celtics have the best record in the NBA this year, 14-4, thanks to Mazzulla’s coaching.
